Room good but noisy. location on beach good, location otherwise isolated from the real Cuba. All inclusive not good value for money, if you didn't care for the food, too bad, there is nowhere else to eat! Cuban staff as usual wonderful! Amenities limited. Described as peaceful, not at all. Entertainment staff don't seem to realise that most clients want peace and quiet, not thumping music fro 11am until 5pm.Even when we were asked if we liked the music and said definitely no, they continued. I'm afraid this is not what we thought it would be. Cayo coco etc. Is purely for tourists, Butlins in the sun with mositoes! Children's pool uninhabited by children, all up at main pool making things even nosier. Should have used children's pool! Crazy.
We've been to Cuba previously and so were not expecting much. This was compounded by the negative reviews left on this site of the hotel and general area. So what a lovely surprise when we got to Memories... Clean hotel, spotless room that was cleaned, polished and stocked with fresh towels every single day that we were there (we went for two weeks), helpful staff and a team that do the best with what they have. We heard a few complaints from people about food, the state of certain rooms, the availability of certain brands/products and the lack of internet - but other than getting used to internet access, we personally never experienced any issues and I find that if you're polite to staff any problems are sorted very quickly. Food was nice - it's tropical temperatures, so you can't eat like you might do at home (avoid the fruit and salads as these are washed using tap water; ice cubes for drinks are made using bottled water and so are fine). Only issue was that on weekends there seems to be far less choice than during the week. The wildlife is something else. Tarantulas are all over the place, as are these massive crabs that crop up in the most crackers places - lobby, bar, pathways... You might get the odd mozzie or ant in the rooms - this can't be helped as they get in through balcony and front doors when opened. We called reception and the handyman was sent to spray our room almost immediately. At this time of year the mozzies are everywhere after 5pm, so be sure to take bug spray; they have a guy walking round each night spraying the grounds with the industrial strength stuff. Our only real query was why we paid for the Diamond Club level when it wasn't clear what we got for this. Other than that it was a great holiday and I'd definitely go back.
We loved out trip to memories flamenco. The hotel was amazing, big hotel, everything is close. The beach area was fantastic. We came in a low season so there were no one at the beach just few people. The beach is extremely long and belongs to memories. The food was good. We were impressed by the diversity of food. For cuba it was pretty good, i even found it better than in Dominican. There is a snack bar 24hrs with good decent food. The stuff was very nice and friendly. Always ready to help and answer any questions. The management stuff was helpful as well. The animation team is extremely good and fun. Overall, we enjoyed a lot this hotel and plan to go back in September because for the money it is one of the best in cuba.
There are not a lot of resorts to choose from in Cayo Coco but this one definitely beats out what competition it has, we stayed here for 7 nights in March of 2017 for our vacation, we paid for the diamond club upgrade as it was only ~$200 more than regular but I would not have paid any more than that for it, it did add some value to our trip but some of the promised "upgrades" were overlooked by the staff, mostly because of the over crowding here this resort is heavily over booked for the amount of space, resources and staff. However, the staff are very friendly and the food was surprisingly good for Cuba, the creole restaurant and shape fen, the Asian restaurant make for the best a la carte experiences but they hook up fast so act fast. Pool is very nice and has a swim up bar and is surrounded by 2 close by bars including the snack bar but the seats are always reserved anywhere after 0900 so be there early to get spots. Diamond club did provide a large perk in terms of the beach, we did get the special beach area with waiter service from 1000-1600 and the diamond club bracelets were enforced in this area, also in the buffet you got special seating which was needed as the buffet was always packed during meal periods this was the biggest evidence of the aforementioned over crowding. All in all this was a pleasant trip
Our stay at Memories Flamenco Beach resort in Cayo Coco was great. Beach was stunning, food was good, staff were great and entertainment was wonderful. So much to do for the kids, they were always entertained and the staff was especially good with them. We felt very safe at all times and overall had an enjoyable experience.
