  • Hostel accommodation: Very budget-friendly, often in dormitory settings with shared bathroom facilities and self-catering options.
  • Camping barns: Not a part of the star rating system, and often referred to as "stone tents". In rural settings, and sleeping bags are required.
  • Alternative and bygone era accommodation: Wigwams, tipis, yurts, single caravans and any lodging that cannot provide the facilities, services and amenities provided by mainstream accommodation. These types of lodging are not part of the star rating system.
