St. Petersburg Hotels
When looking for hotel reservations in St. Petersburg, you’ll first need to decide which area of St. Petersburg-Clearwater you want to stay in. The region consists of St. Petersburg, Clearwater and numerous beachfront communities, each with its own appealing accommodations selection. The most popular of these areas is Clearwater and St. Pete Beach.
Clearwater is a top-notch beach city, with several awards under its belt. Best City Beach, one of America’s Top Family Beaches, one of the Top Singles Beaches in Florida, and one of the Best Beaches from Maine to Hawaii have all been awarded to Clearwater. Its lodging selection is varied, with something to fit every need and budget. Historical registered resorts, large-chain hotels, superior small lodgings, cottages and self-catering apartments and even campgrounds are all located in Clearwater.
New to Clearwater are “condotels”. These are condos operating as hotels, providing all of the amenities and services expected in a regular-style hotel. The rooms are larger than that of a hotel room and each unit has a small to mid-size kitchen, upscale furnishings and décor and over-sized bathrooms.
Also unique to the Clearwater area is the Superior Small Lodging Program. These properties are less than 50 rooms and are known for their warm and inviting ambiance. Membership in the program must be earned, and these properties must adhere to the requirements of the program to stay certified.
St. Pete Beach was just recently ranked the Number 1 beach in the United States, and the Number 5 beach in the world for 2012 through TripAdvisor. These rankings were based on the opinions of millions of travellers from around the world. St. Pete Beach is home to The Pier, built in 1973. With shops, boutiques, restaurants, bars, an aquarium and a large bayside observation deck, the Pier is a great place to hang out. The most noted hotel here is the Loews Don CeSar Hotel, nicknamed “the Pink Palace”. Other large-chain properties can be found throughout St. Pete Beach as well as nostalgic Old Florida motels and inns.
A full range of accommodations can also be found in the beachfront communities of Sand Key, Madeira Beach, Redington Beach, Redington Shores and John’s Pass.
