Kona Flights

The allure of getting your world-famous Kona coffee direct from the source has won you over, now you need to know about Kona flights.

A district on Hawaii, the Big Island, Kona stretches for 60miles from the airport to beyond Kealakekua Bay on the Island’s western coast. The Kona district is home to the appropriately named, Kona International Airport. While there are two airports on the island (Hilo International Airport being the second), Kona International is the primary choice for travellers to the Big Island. The airport is served year-round from Canada by a whole host of Scheduled Air Carriers including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Alaskan Airlines and of course, Air Canada. Flights with Scheduled Air Carriers depart from most major gateways in Canada and will connect through at least one other major city in either the United States or Canada. The connecting city/cities depend/s entirely on the airline you are travelling with and which city in Canada you are departing from. For example, if you depart from Toronto Pearson International Airport you may connect at the Vancouver International Airport before reaching Kona or if you are departing from the Vancouver International Airport you may connect at the Los Angeles International Airport before reaching the Big Island. Seasonal service, from December to April, is available onboard Canadian Charter Air Carrier WestJet. This service departs from select Canadian gateways and also typically requires a connection. As WestJet does not offer service to Kona from every Canadian gateway, affordable flights can be arranged from many of the smaller Canadian gateways to a Canadian city offering service to Kona.

The Kona International Airport is located in Kalaoa CDP, Hawai’i County and is close to the resorts of the North Kona and South Kohala districts.

Outside of the Kona International Airport, many travellers choose to arrive and depart at the Honolulu International Airport in Honolulu on the Island of Oahu. From there you can then take a small inter-island flight to the Kona International Airport on the Big Island.
